| Shopping in Bologna
is a treat in itself. Whether you are shopping for the tastes of Italy,
or for collector’s items, or even clothing, you can find everything that
you need at the center of this beautiful city. There are four predominant
streets where shops abound. The Via dell’Indipendenza, Via Rizzoli, Via
D’Azeglio, and the Via Ugo Bassi are all filled with shops that hold everything
you could possibly want to make your visit to Bologna memorable.
The Piazza Maggiore sits at the crossroad of all four streets, so they
are easily found. You can find designs by all Italian designers in Bologna,
along with antiques and collectibles. Piazza Santo Stefano has an antiques
market on the second week of almost every month. Flea markets are also
readily found at Parco della Montagnola.
Although there are department
stores and supermarkets easily found in Bologna, for an authentic
taste of real Italy, these specialty shops are unsurpassed. Taxes on your
purchases will vary between 12 and 14 percent. This will depend on what
you actually purchase. Just be sure to submit everything that you purchase
to customs for a receipt before you leave the country.
