Bologna Sightseeing
 Bologna has many things to offer the avid sightseer. The city centre is a memorable sight in itself. Surrounded by medieval walls, and simply screaming with ancient culture and historic value, the centre is one of the most visited sights in Bologna
 The Toree degli Asinelli, which is one of the two towers that lean at the foot of Via Rizzoli, offers a brilliant view of Bologna’s city with its red rooftops and cultural history. 
The Piazza Maggiore is a very popular attraction, as is the Piazza Nettuno. These two places form the heart of Bologna
 The University of Bologna, the world’s oldest institution, lies northeast of the two towers. The university was founded in 1088, and abounds with rich heritage and historic buildings. 

 The national picture gallery, or Pinacoteca Nazionale, is in Via Belli Arti. This historic gallery captures Bologna’s artistic past from the 14th century through the 16th century. Historic and old building churches are a wonderful way to get an idea of the cultural heritage that surrounds Bologna. San Domenico, Basilica di Santo Stefano, and Basilica di San Petronio, are all churches or religious areas that you can visit and tour free of charge. You will view old buildings and sculptures that have attributed to the history and air of the old world feel that Bologna offers.

 Other landmarks or points of interest in Bologna include the Via Santo Stefano, Piazza del Nettuno, and the Scala della Montagnola. Many town squares and centres can be reached by walking, and are wonderful tours if you want to get a feel of Old World Italy.

 Whether you decide to book a sightseeing tour, or to venture out on your own to explore everything that Bologna has to offer, be assured that the many museums, churches, and sights to be seen can not be seen in one day. You should make a list of the places that you wish to see, if you have limited time for sightseeing. If you plan to devote as much time to your sightseeing of Bologna as needed, then be prepared to be awed for possibly days. There is always something to see in Bologna, and you may just not be able to take it all in in one visit.
