If nightlife is your forte,
then Florence is right up your alley. Despite the fact that Florence
has a minimum age for drinking of 18, there are always parties to be found.
The Oltrarno offers the most Bohemian area just south of the river. Nightlife
is evident here until the wee hours of the morning.
The most popular area for
nightlife in Florence, however, is the Piazza della Signoria. Dressing
up and enjoying a night on the town is one of the most favored acts in
Florence. Elegant cafés with outside seating abound. Firenze
Spettacolo is Florences entertainment publication, and can give
you all the information you need to experience nightlife to the fullest.
Just like in other university
cities, bars and clubs abound in Florence, also. The Le Volpi and
Le Uve offer some of the best wines in all the region. You can sample exquisite
wines and snack on plates of salami and cheese. At the Caracao, Latin music
is wonderfully accented by the flavor of the coctails. For a more English
approach to nightlife enjoyment, the Fiddlers Elbow offers an English
styled pub. The very small Vini, founded in 1875, is a small and simple
wine counter. Here you can simply stand on the pavement and enjoy the wine
in one of the last wine counters in Florence.
Since casinos are prohibited
in Italy, you will have no luck finding a licensed casino in Florence.
Clubs, however, are plentiful. Central Park, Via Fosso Macinante is the
place to go for the latest music trends. Space Electronic also provides
entertainment for the contemporary music lover, with laser lights and a
myriad of mirrored surfaces. If the Samba is your thing, the Maracana club
features this swinging music.
Live music is not so readily
found in Florence. There are some bars that offer live music, such
as Be Bop. Be Bop is a cocktail bar that specializes in jazz, blues, and
country. The Jazz Café also offers live must each Friday and Saturday
night.
