is located in northern Italy and is the capital of the Province of Genoa
and the Liguria region. The main points of interest in Genova include
the Piazza de Ferrari and the Palace of the Doges. Christopher Columbus
is said to have been from Genova, and the house where he was born
is also located here. The best known landmark are the Medieval Gates of
Genoa, which serve as a rare reminder of Genovas golden
ages.
There is also an aquarium located
in Genova. The Aquarium of Genoa is one of the largest in
all of Europe. The La Lanterna is an ancient lighthouse and the oldest
lighthouse in the world that is in working order. It is also one of the
five tallest lighthouses and is the tallest lighthouse made of brick.
