Excursions
Excursions to other cities are readily available via touring companies, or you can simply decide where you would like to visit while in Rome, and rent a car or take a bus to the cities lying outside of Rome. There are many places that you can spend a day, or just part of a day.

Tivoli lies just 30 km east of Rome. Here you can view two villas from two distinctly different time periods. The Villa Adriana dates back to Roman times and the Villa D`Este was founded during the Renaissance period.

Ancient Ostia offers ruins from ancient Rome. You will find this a wonderful place to visit with its many cypress and Mediterranean pine trees. Here you will find a taste of the everyday lives of ancient Romans.

Capri and Naples lie just a short trip from Rome and are considered the pearl of the Mediterranean sea.

Florence is also within traveling distance for a visit. Here you can tour medieval streets and Renaissance Palaces. the Medici memories are stored in great elegance and splendor within Florence

There are also many sightseeing spots within Rome, but if you want to venture out for a day, or part of a day, these are the most popular excursions from Rome. Again, you may find many touring companies that will transport you and offer a guided tour of the many excursions. Check with your hotel for more information about the opportunities for excursions.
