Nightlife
People in Italy spend so much time outdoors, that nightlife begins very early in the evening, and often lasts long into the night. It’s a very common practice to finish dinner in one place, and then move to a bar or pub for the coffee or liquor course.

There are many bars, Irish pubs, and wine bars located in Rome. The main hub for the clubbing scene can be found at Campo dei Fiori, Piazza Navona, or Testaccio. The legal drinking age in Italy is 16 and there is no licensing law, so drinking can be done at any hour of the day or night. When visiting bars and pubs, it is a good idea to keep in mind that drinks cost double if you sit down. And an outdoor table is slightly more expensive than an indoor table. So, in summer, if you plan to sit on the terrace and enjoy your drink, just expect to pay a little extra.

There are also various clubs located in Rome, where you can enjoy drinks, music, and dancing the night away. At the Gilda, you can listen to disco music. There is also a piano bar and a full service restaurant.

If Jazz is your music of choice, then Big Mama should be your nightlife selection. Keep in mind, Big Mama is very popular and is sometimes overcrowded, but well worth it for the musicians that frequent the club. The Fonclea holds jazz and R&B concerts. They also feature a restaurant, as well as a fully stocked bar.

Besides the bars and pubs, there are other ways to enjoy the nightlife in Rome. During the summer, various outdoor concerts are held. The Villa Celimontana holds and annual jazz and image festival during the summer months. You can also find classical and opera performances. The summer season is so full of outdoor activities and events that it has been given the name Estate Romana. Churches and pizzas frequently offer live jazz and blues concerts. In the ruins at Ostia you can also watch live plays. The Foro Italico is virtually converted into a space for outdoor activities during the summer months.

You’ll have no luck finding Casinos in Rome, as gambling in banned throughout all of Italy.
No matter what nightlife you enjoy, be it bar or pubs, the club scene, or just outdoor concerts and performances, you can find something to satisfy your nightlife side during your visit to Rome
