are many beautiful parks and outdoor scenicareas
in Rome. If you want to truly see the majestic beauty that
Italy has to offer, you should plan to make time to visit at least one
of the beautiful national parks locatedin Rome.
The Catacombe
di San Callisto is known as the Church of Rome’s cemetery. Here
you will find the tombs of nine popes buried in the Crypt.
The beautiful
gardens of the Pincio overlook the Piazza del Popolo, one of Rome’smost
beautiful squares. The beautiful gardens of the Largo Cristina
di Svezia contain over 7,000 plant species from all around the world. Included
in the collection are sequoias, palm trees, and many beautiful and exotic
flowers. The Garden of Rose Evolution, located within the Largo Cristina
contains the two species from which all other roses were formed.
The Villa
Borghese is the most popular and famous public park in Rome.
It features neoclassical statues, fine oak trees, umbrella pines, and a
grass covered open amphitheater. There are also formal gardens and an aviary
located in the Villa Borghese. The lake is beautiful with ducks and rowboats
around it, and just to the south of the lake you will find the Fontana
dei Fauni, one of the beautiful sculptures.
The largest
park
located in Rome is the Villa Doria Pamphili. This
beautiful landspot is filled with fountains and summerhouses dating back
to the 17th century. It features running paths and dog paths as well.
For
the water enthusiast there is the Acqua Piper. This aquatic water park
has wave pools, water slides, kiddie pools, pony rides, restaurants, and
much more. Other places of interest, especially for children, are the Bomarzo
Monster Park which features stone monsters that children can climb on and
a strange house for them to explore. The Hydromania is another water park
and features a large Olympic sized pool, water slides, water massage, and
tennis courts, among other things. Rome’s great amusement park, the Luneur,
offers excitement with a Ferris wheel, a merry-go-round, a roller coaster,
haunted house, and a miniature golf course. You will also find many
other carnival type attractions at the Luneur.
Finally,
Rome offers the Zoological Gardens, or Viale del Giardino Zoological.
This zoo was established in 1911 and additions were made in 1935 to hold
the many antelope, wolves, giraffe, tigers, elephants, seals, and cats.
There are many exciting animals to see at the Zoo. There is also an aquarium
with various aquatic life, including penguins.
Again,

a must to sample the artistic culture and beautiful outdoor life that Italy
